It’s beach time!
Preston hit the beach on Galveston Island this weekend.

The beach here is not the prettiest because there are piles of dead seaweed but it is the most fun for the puggle who loves to sniff!

It was Nolan’s first time playing in the sand. He was full of curiosities.

This trip was even more fun than last year’s because Preston got a brother to play with him this time!

Vacation

Mommy, Daddy and Nolan are going to visit Grandma and Grandpa in Taiwan. They wish Preston could go with them too.
What is Preston gonna do?
He is going on a vacation of HIS OWN! When Preston left California three years ago, he promised his best buddies whom he grew up with, Mina and Milo the Westies, that he would be back to visit. He is keeping his promise! He is flying to California to hang out with Mina and Milo and also meet their new foster sister, Molly.

Life with a Baby- Brotherly Love

Preston is the best puggle brother a baby could ever ask for. Nolan absolutely adores his fur brother.
For the past couple of months, Nolan has been wearing a cranial helmet to reshape his little head (his head was flat in the back as a result of sleeping on his back). To show his support, Preston also put on his pomelo helmet.

Mommy and Daddy always enjoy seeing the interactions between Preston and Nolan. These are some moments caught on the camera that bring smiles to Mommy and Daddy’s faces. It is not surprising that “Preston” is the first word Nolan has learned.

A Useful “Trick”

Mommy and Daddy have pretty much given up on training Preston to be a good walker. He knows the commands “next to mommy” and “slow” very well but enjoys his walk so much better when he can stop and sniff around. When Mommy takes Preston and Baby Nolan out for a walk, a retractable leash makes it easier for Mommy to keep her hands on the stroller and still allow enough freedom for Preston to do some sniffing that he loves. The biggest problem with letting Preston have the extra long leash is that he often wraps himself around a tree or pole, Mommy has to undo it by going around the tree or pole. It is not always easy to do that with a stroller.
It is time for Preston to learn to unwind himself with the command “go around!”. (A retractable leash should only be used on well-behaved dogs. Mommy thinks Preston has passed the test!)

OHHH…This post is long overdue! Hope everyone is having a great start of the new year.
Preston and Nolan received SO many lovely presents from their blog friends. Thank you all so much!

Preston flew (again!) with Mommy, Daddy and Nolan to Seattle over the holidays. See all the fun things he did on his vacation!

Hope everyone has a wonderful and safe Christmas!
Preston is flying to Seattle (again!) to spend Christmas with Grandpa, Grandma, Aunt Karin, Uncle John and 6-month old Cousin Madeline whom he is going to meet for the first time! How exciting!
Before leaving for his trip, Preston wants to leave a funny video as a Christmas present for everyone!
Daddy left an open bag of potato chips on the coffee table and took off for work. Preston really wanted the chips but as a well-behaved (cough! cough!) puggle, he knew he couldn’t get his paws on the chips (well…at least not when Mommy is still in the house). He must have stared at the bag of potato chips for a long long time before he finally decided to bring the bag to Mommy in the next room…

Halloween 2011

Guess what Preston is gonna be this year?

For those of you thought he was a turkey, “Roarrr!!”

Like last year, Preston was at CAP’s howl-o-ween dog walk this weekend. Mommy and Daddy thought this was the coolest costume of the day.

Of course Nolan is dressing up for his first Halloween too!

Life With a Baby- Music

Mommy and Daddy always know Preston has ears for classical music. He can distinguish Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6 in F major from Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 in G major. The former is the ringtone on Mommy’s phone when Daddy calls. Mommy and Daddy sure hope Preston can show Baby Nolan how to appreciate classical music because right now Nolan’s favorite sound is the noise from a portable vacuum cleaner!

Cultured Puggle

Preston has gone hiking, biking, skiing, swimming, kayaking and canoeing with Mommy and Daddy and enjoys them all. Mommy and Daddy always hoped beside sports, Preston could also be involved in some more cultured activities with them.
It seems like they’ve moved to the right city! Houston’s Miller Outdoor Theater is an excellent performing arts theater that provides diverse performances from March through October. They are free and DOG FRIENDLY!
Throughout the summer, Mommy and Daddy have enjoyed several great performances with Preston. They like to pack their dinner (and Preston’s of course!) and have a picnic on the hillside before the show starts. Preston has always been a very well behaved audience and patiently sat through the 3-hour performance.

Nolan joined the family activity for the first time. He was very well-behaved too!
