Dog Park Injury

Preston was injured in the dog park by another dog today.
A dog came to the dog park with his parents who just adopted him from the shelter two weeks ago. Mommy was happy that he found a new home but did not think he was quite ready for dog parks. He was aggressive towards the first two dogs he encountered and was asked to leave by the other dog parents. His daddy explained that he wanted him to get used to being around other dogs. He was put on a leash but apparently his daddy still did not have full control over him. Mommy was worried about Preston because he always had to make sure that he greets every dog that came into the park. Mommy wanted Preston to stay away and he did at the beginning. Then, Preston remembered he hadn’t said hello to the newbie. Before mommy could stop him, the mean dog grabbed Preston’s face and wouldn’t let go until his daddy made him. Mommy was heartbroken to find a very deep wound on Preston’s face.

  8. Oh no Preston!! That is terrible! I hope that you heal fast and without any pain! Puggles are such a friendly breed that sometimes we don’t see danger when it’s coming right at us! I hope that other doggy’s dad learned a lesson from this too! His doggy is not ready for dog parks! Preston, your mommy will take good care of you so don’t you worry!! I’ll be thinking of you!

    Hugs, Bruschi

  9. Karl says:

    Geez, Preston Brah,
Glad I wasn’t there. Must have been pretty dreadful seeing and hearing you in that situation.
Might have given the other dog owner a “piece” of my mind as well.

  10. Gabriella says:

Poor Preston! My puggle is very friendly at the park and also goes out of his way to greet everyone! I don’t like when the park is used for rehabilitation by owners–its not fair to our dogs 🙁

  11. Miss Kylie says:

Preston! That is very sad to hear and see! Mommy stopped taking me to the dog park because there were too many owners not watching their dogs and letting them cause trouble. It’s too bad because that’s the only one in the area. People can be so irresponsible. I hope you get better soon and hopefully it’s not so deep you have to go to the vet!
    Feel better Preston!
    Licks,
    Kylie

  12. Eduardo says:

Oh No Preston! I wish that didn’t happen to you! I was attacked by another dog & after that I had a hard time trusting male dogs. Mommy took me to see my best friend(who is a male)& I got better with my trusting! I’ll be snuggling for a fast recovery! I hope you don’t see that doggie again until he can behave better!

  14. Clover says:

Oh Preston, I am so sorry that you got hurt at the dog park. 🙁 I am sending really big hugs and kisses to you and your mommy. This should not have happened. I don’t like it when humans are irresponsible, like the owner of the mean dog.
I hope you are feeling better soon!!

    Ouch!!! Speedy recovery!

  16. Marcia in Des Moines says:

Oh, Preston. So sorry you had such a bad experience. My grandpuppy, Zoe who is another Zoe Puggle, was attacked by a German shepard when I was dog sitting her and we were on a walk around the block. She was terrified for days, and still doesn’t trust that breed of dog. She grew white hair where her scars are which is a constant reminder since she is a black puggle. It also was a case of the person walking the German S was irresponsible and didn’t know how to control his dog or how to get him away from her.

  17. poochy says:

Preston, so sad to hear about this. I hope you are recovering soon. That wound looks very painful. Let me and my mommy know if you or your mommy need anything. We are here for you. I like to greet others too in the dog park and at times my mommy is worried. Let us know how you are doing.

    Big hugs,
    Poochy

  18. joanne says:

i am so sorry to hear about your booboo. hope that doggy got in touble by his mommy..

  19. Amber-Mae says:

Oh you poor thing! It should heal soon I hope. That’s what happened to me the last time. A rescued Dalmatian went for my eye! But I was fine. The Dallie was trained every week & now is no longer aggressive. All that doggie needs is lots of training, some rehabilitation & lots of socialization & then he will be a wonderful dog!

  20. Hey Preston gotta be careful out there buddy. It’s so true though… people need to make sure their dog is socialized before letting it roam free in a Dog Park!

P.S. What type of dog was it?

I hope that Preston heals quickly from his wound 🙁 It’s such a shame that it had to happen when Preston was just trying to be friendly. Keep us posted on his status!

  23. Some dog owners can be so careless and irresponsible. I’m sorry you both had to experience that. I hope the owner helps pay for Preston’s medical bills. Get better buddy.
