Puppy Class – Watch me !!

Today was the second puppy class. What Preston really needs to work on is how to walk properly with a leash. He needs a lot of work in this area as he gets easily distracted and runs ahead or away and not watch to see where we’re going. So when we’re walking and he stray off, we need to remind him to “watch me” as mommy is doing.

Kong Toy

This is probably one of the most ingeniously designed toys to keep them busy. Auntie Gina bought one for him. You stick a treat in the center of the toy and they’ll spend countless time chewing it trying to get it out. At first Preston was very curious and spent a long time trying to get the treat out of it. That gave mommy and daddy some free time without Preston constantly looking for attention during the evening. Occassionally he would get the Kong stuck under the sofa or dressor and would require mommy or daddy to help him get it out. After a while Preston got smart. After he gets frustrated, he would bring the Kong to mommy and give her a sad face saying “Can you help me get it out? PLEASE !!”

New Bed I

Sleeping is very important to Preston and he’s extremely picky about where he sleeps. He likes something soft and plush. When mommy saw this bed, she knew it was the one for him. Once we brought the bed home, he immediately inspected it to make sure it’s up to his standard by sniffing it, licking it (to mark his territory), and biting it. The new bed passed the test as he loves sleeping in it.

FYI: Preston’s bed is Candy Stripe Snuggle Bed (Large) by New York Dog.

Flying Preston

When Preston runs, his floppy ears flies up like they are wings and he’s ready to fly.

Santa Claus

Christmas is near and so we’re obligated to get Preston a Santa suit. When we first put the suit on him, he didn’t like it much and would give us a sad face, but over time he began to enjoy being Santa.

He later became “Dancing Santa”

Preston the Sailor Man

Preston is so cute wearing all these different clothes. Here is Preston the Sailor Man.

Mean Face

ARRRGGG…Preston has what looks like a mean face but in reality is his underbite that he inherited from his Pug father.

First day of school and one fun day

We couldn’t get him to wake up this morning. He must have known it was his first day of school.

Twenty minutes later we went back to check on him and this is how we found him. He crawled back into the covers.

We dragged him out of bed and eventually made it to his first day of puppy class. He’s taking classes at the PetSmart in Mountain View. Here is daddy holding him in class.

After some basic obedience training, Preston got bored and decided to take a little nap while the teacher was speaking.

In his class, he met a very nice classmate named Bob, an American Mastiff, who was 6 months old and already 120lbs. Bob sitting was taller than Preston when he stood on his hind legs.

After he successfully completed his first day of puppy school, we took him to the dog park. There were a lot of dogs there today for him to play with.

Loosing his manhood

Today was a sad day in Preston’s life as he was neutered. This was done at Palo Alto Animal Services which provides neutering at a very reasonable cost. After he got home that day, he was so out of it for the next 24 hours. He didn’t want to play and didn’t want to eat. He just wanted to sleep. From this picture, you can see how tired he was that evening.

Puggle on the loose

We were in for a BIG surprise one day when we came home from work. I eagerly came home to let him out of the crate, but when I opened the door Preston was standing near the door greeting me with a “suprise and I did something bad” smirk. When we left him this morning in the crate, mommy must have forgetten to lock it leaving him full access to the apartment all day. From the look of the apartment, he really enjoyed himself all day. He had time to explore every corner of the apartment and chewed on everything he could get his paws on. Luckily he didn’t have “accidents” anywhere in the apartment all day. Whew !
