Preston has leaned to lie down when you tap your hands on the floor. He doesn’t quite yet will lie down on command only. He’s such a smart dog. He learned this command rather quickly. Update: he now will pretty much sit on command and will shake your hand if you reach your hand forward to him when he sits.
Next tricks – roll over. This will be a tough one for him to learn, but Preston can do it !

We finally got the chance to organize and upload the videos of us picking out Preston. There were 4 puppies shown, 3 boys and 1 girl. We were choosing from among one of the boys. As you can see, they were all very friendly and was trying to get mommy’s attention. It was so hard to decide because they were all so cute. As we played with them, some of their personalities started to show and made us lean towards Preston. Of all the boys, Preston was the only one that had a complete black mask and had more pug facial features or the wrinkly forehead.
When we first got there it was just overwhelming with all of the dogs rushing and coming towards us and fighting each other for attention. Initially we thought the hyper ones were cute, but then realized that they might a bit much for what we could handle.
From this video you can see that Preston has a more mellow attitude and demeanor than the other dogs. Although he would try to get attention, he wouldn’t climb over other dogs to do it.
Now mommy’s inspecting each dog one at a time. She’s picking them up to see how they react one on one with her.
Once again playing with all of them to make sure she’s making the right decision.
By this time, I think mommy has pretty much decided on Preston and wanted to make sure he’s the right one for us.

Preston’s so funny when we play with the squeaky toy behind his bed. He thinks it’s coming from inside his bed and will try to dig it out.

We bought Preston so many toys but he gets disinterested in them so quickly. But something that does interests him is plastic bottles. I think he’s interested in it because it’s new and he’s never played with it before. The bottle is bigger than him and he can’t get his mouth over it. The only way he can hold on to it is to grab it at the bottle top and hold the bottle above his head. He’s so cute when he does that.

Preston has a habit of takings anything he can get his teeth on and bringing it to his favorite spot which is under the chairs in the living room. There are 3 places in out apartment that he likes to hide out in: 1) under the low chairs we have in the living room 2) under the coffee table 3) under our bed. He likes areas where he can crawl under, like a safe place for him. He bites and takes shoes (all kinds), garbage can, socks, cushions, towels, and some of his toys to his place under the chair. He’s so cute when he tries to bring items to the chair, especially items that are bigger than him like the little garbage can.

Preston is learning how to do a handshake today. It took us all weekend for teach him this. He still needs some reinforcements but he’s starting to learn. Preston’s a smart dog.

Preston now knows how to sit. We just have to make it do it more consistently on command.
Next step… shake hands and down…

Preston is mostly housebroken. When we take him outside to the grassy area, he will pee and poop there. Occasionally he still has accidents in the house, but not that often anymore. We are learning his movement and what he does to tell us he wants to go to the bathroom. We know that when he starts to really sniff around that he’s looking for a place to go to the bathroom. We’re thinking about training him to ring a bell my the door when he wants to “go potty”. I think we have a smart dog here.
