What’s in your Kong®?

It has become one of Preston’s daily routines to have a treat dispensing toy like Kong® when Mommy and Daddy are having their dinner. Preston finishes his dinner first and then brings his Kong over to Mommy to be filled with “goodie of the day”. Mommy is always looking for new yummy (and sticky) Kong fillings. Here are a few of Preston’s favorites. What are yours? Please share!

Beef & Rice: Puree 2 parts of cooked beef + 1 part of rice, add water to achieve the desired consistency.

Banana & Peanut butter: Puree one banana and 1 tablespoon of peanut butter (and some optional honey). Add a small piece of bread to make it stickier.

(a behind-the-scene capture during the photoshoot…)

Salmon & Cream cheese: Puree 1/2 cup of cooked salmon and 2 tablespoons of low/non-fat cream cheese (or cottage cheese).

More great fillings… Just cook and puree!

My mommy blends banana, nonfat Greek yogurt and a touch of honey. Then she FREEZES the kong for a nice cool treat!

  2. Oh my Preston! Your Mommy is a gourmet Chef…with a specialty in Doggy snacks! I’m drooling looking at all your yummy choices.

I cannot wait for my Mama to have more time…she is currently too busy and unfortunately, I have to sacrifice some of my excessive needs…I’ll be sure to note down all your yummy recipes for when she is not so busy.

    Hugs,
    CoCo

Preston! THAT is what you get in your Kong?! OMD I am calling the animal police right now to report my mommy! She only fills it with plain Peanut Butter!! This is abuse! BOL!

    Dear Preston,

My mommy freezes my kong with the peanut butter inside. Sometimes they put baby carrot chunks or cheese cubes in there for me to shake out. She showed daddy your pureed creations and they agreed to put more effort into my snacks in the future.

Perhaps you may be interested in other ideas from this site my Mommy used for ideas when she saw how much Kong wanted for their cheez whiz bottle at the store:

  9. Wow Preston, your mommy is such a chef! My mom isn’t that creative- probably because the Kong is an afterthought when she wants me to quit bugging her. Usually it’s peanut butter- but I only get that once a week or I’ll get fat. Mom also likes to keep a supply of marrow bones after I’ve hollowed them out in the freezer filled with peanut butter.

When Mom and Dad are having dinner, Mom puts fresh roasted turkey breast in my “blue ball”. I don’t know what it’s called, but Mr. Puggle is playing with one in his latest video.

  10. Wow, Preston – those are some sophisticated Kong fillings!! I’m not so into Kongs anymore but I did like them when I was a pup – and my humans just used boring old kibble and dog biscuits and some peanut butter to seal the top…looks like I should have grown up in your household! 🙂

  11. Wow do you eat well! We haven’t tried the Kong yet – Nigel hasn’t figured out how to fit the cat in it…

I stumbled onto your site not too long ago and I just wanted to comment on how impressed I am with Preston’s meals in general! He eats like a king. My dog MoMo loves frozen peanut butter stuffed kongs, but I’ll have to try some of your other suggestions as well!
