Back from Vacation!

After leaving Prince Edward Island, Preston headed towards Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. This is one of the most beautiful places Mommy and Daddy have ever been to. People are very friendly here too. Mommy and Daddy like Nova Scotia so much that they have already talked about going back to see fall foliage next time. Preston spent two days here and had his first encounter with a moose in Cape Breton Highlands National Park.

Hiking with Preston is a lot of fun but Mommy and Daddy have to keep their eyes on him the whole time because he has tons of curiosity and NO fear of heights!

Preston never missed any chances to get his paws wet even when the water was freezing cold!

The last stop on the trip before heading home was Fundy National Park, New Brunswick, Canada. There are lots of trails with great views of Bay of Fundy and waterfalls in the woods.

During the 7-day trip, Preston traveled more than 2200 miles (3500 km) and hiked 11 trails.

It was a wonderful vacation. It rained a couple of days during the trip but it didn’t wash away any fun. Cape Breton Island is such a pretty place to visit. Mommy and Daddy hope after seeing how much fun Preston had, you will want to include Nova Scotia in your next vacation planning.

  1. Wow Preston! I’d be in heaven with all that water to splash around in! I *love* swimming!

Mom and Dad said that they’ll take me to Canada next time they go- but we’re on the West coast. We’ll be sure to take lots of pictures to share, because we sure enjoy looking at your vacation pictures!

  2. Welcome back, Preston! Wow – that really was a trip of a lifetime, was’t it?! My humans would love to do something like that, although sadly I could never accompany them because of how difficult & expensive it is for doggies (esp giant ones!) travel around the world…but I’m glad I can get to enjoy it through your blog!

    Slobbers,
    Honey the Great Dane
    ps. love the moose!!!

  3. Preston, your Mommy and Daddy captured some great pictures. We especially liked the family pictures. You are so good at posing for the camera! You are also super brave! I don’t think I am that adventurous!

Pee esss…make sure you guys get all your hiking out of your systems because there are definitely nothing that beautiful here in Texas….at least the weather is never cool enough to motivate hiking.

Oh Preston – I can see that you guys had a wonderful trip! I went to Hopewell Rocks (and NB and NS) when I was 12 weeks old – do you remember when I posted about it on my old blog?
My mom’s family is from Nova Scotia, and my mom just inherited the family land over there – it’s on a beautiful harbour. Maybe next time you go back you can stay there!

  8. Dear Preston,

Thanks for sharing your photos. Mommy and Daddy are looking forward to seeing the Canadian Maritime Provinces someday. They’re curious as to what hotels you stayed at while you’re there because they said if I ever stop being the naughtiest puppy ever they would consider taking me with them 😉

PS Re: Your move to Texas soon… Mommy dearly remembers Barton Creek and Enchanted Rock during her time in Austin and wishes she had made it to Big Bend to do more hiking/exploring too! Houston…well, there was a lot of pavement and oil wells but the coast isn’t too far so you’ll enjoy that a lot. Good luck!!!
