MA-TX Road Trip #2

On day3 of the trip, Preston visited Washington D.C., one of Mommy and Daddy’s favorite cities. Daddy was even considering taking a job here but eventually decided to go to Houston.

The next day Preston arrived in Virginia and continued his journey south through Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park.
The beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains on Skyline Drive.

Mommy and Daddy planned a 3-hour hike in Shenandoah National Park. It is a bear country here so Preston had to be on leash. Mommy and Daddy picked a trail (rose river trail) with streams and waterfalls. They know how much Preston loves the water.

**Reminder** See Preston on TV 7/24 (Sat) 8pm ET/PT (7pm Central) on Animal Planet “Dogs vs. Cats“!

MA-TX road trip #1

Preston’s road trip is off to a great start.
Preston visited his blogging friend, Oliver Tates, when passing through New Jersey.

Preston also met his 1-year-old cousin Deana for the first time and learned that babies are not as scary as he previously thought. They give treats…very generously.

After leaving New Jersey, Preston’s next stop is Philadelphia.

Of course Philly Cheesesteak is on the must-do list.
Preston is here to settle the famous Philly Cheesesteak rivalry between Geno’s and Pat’s. They are located across the street from each other.
And the verdict is….

Goodbye, Boston!

Preston said goodbye to Boston this weekend.
Mommy and Daddy think the summer weather is too hot for Preston to fly so they decided to make a roadtrip from Boston to Houston since they know Preston loves roadtrips (much better than flying for sure!) and they can also visit friends and family along the way.
It is gonna be a long long trip!

Mommy and Daddy are excited about moving to Houston but they are also very sad about saying goodbye to Boston. Preston is going to miss all the fun things he can do in New England all year round.

***ATTENTION*** Preston will be on TV again! The new show he is participating this time is Animal Planet’s “Dogs vs. Cats“, scheduled to be aired on 7/24 (Sat) 8:00pm PT/ET. Preston will show the world how smart dogs can be!

Happy Birthday!!!

Preston turned four on Friday!
Look at all the birthday presents and yummy treats he received.

The blue elephant is his new favorite toy. Thank you, Oliver!

Bruschi got Preston a bunch of yummy treats including the biggest cookies he has ever seen. It took Preston a while to figure out what to do with it. Thank you, Bruschi!

Mommy and Daddy ordered a doggie birthday cake from Polka Dog Bakery, the most awesome doggie bakery in Boston.

Preston shared some of his birthday cake with Bunbun the Havanese. Bunbun invited him to her new house.

“I want my stuffie!”

Hope everyone had a wonderful fourth of July weekend!
Preston’s big move to TX is approaching. Mommy and Daddy spent most of the long weekend getting ready for the move. Mommy packed away Preston’s big stuffie collection (more than 70!) and kept a few of his faovrite so he could take them with him on the road….at least that was what she thought so…
Preston insisted his favorite stuffie was still in the bag…

Meeting up with Cyber Friends

Preston has made many friends all over the world through blogging. Mommy, Daddy and Preston are lucky to be able to meet some of them in person. This week Preston got to meet two special cyber friends.
On Thursday, Chloe the Puggle and her Mommy Stephanie visited Preston at home.
Isn’t Chloe a cutie?

As smart as Preston is, he is a total dork when it comes to the ladies. He didn’t know what to do but follow Chloe everywhere she went.

Preston ended up with a broken heart when Chloe chose the stuffie over him…

On Saturday, Preston, Mommy and Daddy met up with the long-time blogging friend Miss Kylie and her family. Kylie’s mommy, Ali and Mommy have been talking about a meetup when Preston still lived in California! Mommy was so excited it was finally happening!
Miss Kylie is SO pretty! She is a Border Collie/Flat Coat Retriever.

How did the meetup go? uhh….well…. Preston and Kylie have found a few things in common…

Preston really needs to practice his social skills with ladies…
Regardless, Mommy and Daddy had the greatest time meeting Kylie’s parents, Ali and Matt! Read more about their fun meetup at Miss Kylie’s Corner.

What’s in your Kong®?

It has become one of Preston’s daily routines to have a treat dispensing toy like Kong® when Mommy and Daddy are having their dinner. Preston finishes his dinner first and then brings his Kong over to Mommy to be filled with “goodie of the day”. Mommy is always looking for new yummy (and sticky) Kong fillings. Here are a few of Preston’s favorites. What are yours? Please share!

Beef & Rice: Puree 2 parts of cooked beef + 1 part of rice, add water to achieve the desired consistency.

Banana & Peanut butter: Puree one banana and 1 tablespoon of peanut butter (and some optional honey). Add a small piece of bread to make it stickier.

(a behind-the-scene capture during the photoshoot…)

Salmon & Cream cheese: Puree 1/2 cup of cooked salmon and 2 tablespoons of low/non-fat cream cheese (or cottage cheese).

More great fillings… Just cook and puree!

Back from Vacation!

After leaving Prince Edward Island, Preston headed towards Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. This is one of the most beautiful places Mommy and Daddy have ever been to. People are very friendly here too. Mommy and Daddy like Nova Scotia so much that they have already talked about going back to see fall foliage next time. Preston spent two days here and had his first encounter with a moose in Cape Breton Highlands National Park.

Hiking with Preston is a lot of fun but Mommy and Daddy have to keep their eyes on him the whole time because he has tons of curiosity and NO fear of heights!

Preston never missed any chances to get his paws wet even when the water was freezing cold!

The last stop on the trip before heading home was Fundy National Park, New Brunswick, Canada. There are lots of trails with great views of Bay of Fundy and waterfalls in the woods.

During the 7-day trip, Preston traveled more than 2200 miles (3500 km) and hiked 11 trails.

It was a wonderful vacation. It rained a couple of days during the trip but it didn’t wash away any fun. Cape Breton Island is such a pretty place to visit. Mommy and Daddy hope after seeing how much fun Preston had, you will want to include Nova Scotia in your next vacation planning.

Vacation Day2-3

On his second day in Acadia National Park, Preston did some hard-core hiking. Mommy and Daddy picked a more strenous trail (Acadia Mountain Trail). Even an experienced hiker like Preston needed a little help from Mommy and Daddy on this trail.

Apparently, a couple of hours of hiking wasn’t enough to tire Preston out. He went for a swim as soon as we arrived at Echo Lake.

On day three, Preston visited The Hopewell Rocks in New Brunswick, Canada. The world’s highest average tides are found here. These tides have created interesting rock formations.

Preston visited during low tide. The scenery at high tide is very different.

After leaving The Hopewell Rocks, Preston crossed The 8 mile (13 km) long Confederation Bridge from Canada mainland to Prince Edward Island. It was raining all afternoon so Preston couldn’t go to the beach as planned. Mommy and Daddy did get to visit the famous Green Gables (as in “Anne of Green Gables” novels by Lucy Maud Montgomery).

Vacation Day1

Preston’s new adventure will make anyone who likes to hike envious. This coming week, he is going on a 7-day road trip with Mommy and Daddy to Maine and Canada. There will be a lot of hiking involved. Everybody’s gotta pack their hiking boots.

First destination- Acadia National Park, Maine.

It is a beautiful day to visit the park.

Preston got to explore the ocean and lake and hike a rocky trail and a board walk.
