Kayak Outing

After having so much fun canoeing on the Charles last year, Preston went on to try kayaking this weekend. Mommy and Daddy like kayaking better than canoeing but finding a good spot to sit on the kayak could be tricky for Preston.

There are many crazy individuals along the busy Charles river on this given day.

It was a fun family outing. Preston even got to jump off the kayak (with a little help from Mommy) and swim in the river.

While in the water, Preston started to panic when mommy and daddy paddled away…. of course they came back to pick him up.

  1. Oh Preston, my mom felt so bad for you when you were crying, but we knew that your mommy and daddy weren’t going to leave you.

You go on so many fun adventures! What a lucky (and handsome!) puggle you are.

  2. Hi Preston!

You and your pawrents are definitely more adventurous than me and my pawrents!

I was so sad to hear your cries…it sounded like ” hey wait for me….I can’t swim that fast!” But I also knew your Mommy and Daddy would not leave you!

I know there is not a river in Houston for you to do your kayaking, but there is definitely one here in Austin. Your Mommy should look up our “Lady Bird Lake.” We always see people kayaking there when we are at auditorium shores dog park!

    Have fun enjoying your Spring!

    Hugs,
    CoCo

OHHHHH PRESTON! That was heartbreaking! Mommy just felt so sad and panicked for you! Even though of course your humans would NEVER leave you behind! You are so lucky to have gone swimming in the Charles! The only water near me is FULL of alligators! No thanks! BOL

    Preston!
Your mum and dad are so cute, my mum wants to take me everywhere with her, but I am not an adventurous Puggle, I like cuddling at home. That’s so cool how brave you are!!

  8. You are such a brave boy, Preston!
Your mommy and daddy love you too much to ever leave you!

    Love ya lots,
    Maggie and Mitch

  9. Wow – cool Doggles, Preston!! 😀

That is such a great adventure! I thought you were so brave to swim in the water…I have to say, somehow I don’t think my humans could do that with me – don’t think they would have a life-jacket big enough – and I would need a whole kayak on my own – ha! ha!

    Dear Preston,

My parents and I really enjoyed reading your website and learning about you. I’m only 10 weeks old and my parents hope that one day I will be calm and sweet like you!

I see you made it to NH this year. You should come to Vermont and visit our beautiful lakes and mountains too before you leave for Houston.

  11. Oh wow! That looks fun!
How do you get your doggles to stay on your head? Squirt shakes his head and they end up around his neck!
That looks like so much fun we will have to do it sometime! There’s a river really close to grandma’s house 🙂
    Licks and kisses,
    Squirt and mom

  12. Hi Preston – thanks for your recent comments. And about Heeling as a Beagle – well, have you been to visit my friend Cinnamon (who I used to meet up with when we still lived in Auckland)? She also used to have the same problem as you – sniffing on the ground all the time – but her human’s been doing LOTS of practice with her (esp as she’s doing dancing too and you really need to focus well in dancing) – and now she’s heeling beautifully!
Check out the video in one of her latest posts; http://beaglesnz.blogspot.com/2010/05/my-first-unexpected-obedience-trials.html

So just goes to show what can be achieved with patience and dedication…even with a Beagle! 😀

  13. FANTASTIC pictures! Preston must be the most active and lucky puggle around!
