Awesome Dog Parks

Thanks to Preston’s cyber friends in Houston, Preston got a long list of pet-friendly places to visit. Mommy and Daddy helped Preston check off three dog parks from his list in his first month here.
1). Congressman Bill Archer Bark Park– 17 acres of off-leash area with open space, walking trails, an agility course and two bone-shaped pools.

Preston visited on the day when a Great Dane meetup was taking place.

2). Millie Bush Bark Park– 15 acres of open and well-manicured space for off-leash fun. There are walking trails, agility equipments and three pools. This dog is only 5 miles from Congressman Bill Archer Bark Park. Can you believe that two such awesome dog parks are so close to each other? Lucky Houston dogs!
In Houston, the small dog areas of the dog park are for dogs 20lb and under (size restriction here is smaller than parks Preston used to visit in CA or MA). When 30 lb Preston visited the small dog area as a guest, he had an entourage following him…

3) Danny Jackson Bark Park– This is a smaller park (by TX standard, of course) with 3 acres of off-leash area and two swimming pools. The best thing about this park is…it is only 1.5 miles from home!
Preston hopes to make lots of new friends here.

The part Mommy likes the most about these bark parks is the doggie shower! Preston can always come home as a clean dog! But he doesn’t seem to be as excited about this amenity as mom is.

  1. That is correct Preston….Everything is bigger in TEXAS…including the HEAT!!!! You have to know that your Mommy really, really, really LOVES you when she is willing to endure this TX heat and take you to 3 dog parks in one month….not to mention the Houston humidity! I’m impressed! I’ve yet to attend any of the Austin Dog Parks this Summer. It has been way too hot. You do have an advantage in the fact that you don’t have a BLACK fur coat!

I’m impressed with all the parks. They are definitely more advance that the Austin ones. I’m glad you are fitting right in to your new city!

  2. Those parks did look like lots of fun! My dog park is big too with trails and different fields and agility stuff and creeks to swim in, but they aren’t bone shaped like yours 🙁 That sounds awesome! My Mommy is super jealous that yours has a doggie shower in it-she would LOVE that! I’m usually getting wiped down in the parking lot before getting in the car-BOL 🙂

    Maddy

Wow! Preston it looks like you have a lot of Barking Great choices for a romp and play at the dog park. Human Granny said she would love the ‘doggie shower’ they provide just like your human Mommy. That would sure save her time and her back. Snicker! Snicker! Looks like you are getting to know your new home real well. We are all so Happy for you!
    Catch you later pup.

  6. Wow, those parks are cool! Our off leash areas are usual pretty basic with no pools, running water or showers! But I (and the dogs) love them all the same 🙂

  7. Oh my God, Preston – I am SOOOOO jealous!!! What amazing dog parks! Especially the first one! I so wish we had something even close in Brisbane – the dog parks are LOUSY here, especially compared to what we were used to back in Auckland.

Wow – bone-shaped pools? How cute is that! I had to giggle, though, at the picture of you in the “small dog park” – it;s strange to see you looking “big” for a change! 🙂

    Slobbers,
    Honey the Great Dane
