Knot-a-long® Leash

A couple of weeks ago, Preston’s puggle buddy Bruschi talked about his new Wacky Walkr® Urban leash in his blog. It is a short elastic leash that is perfect for dogs who like to pull. Living in a city (with a real wacky walker like Preston), Mommy especially appreciates a short leash that allows her more control when walking on busy streets. Mommy would like to share another great short leash option – Knot-a-long® leash by Ruffwear.
The handle of this leash is very comfortable to hold on to. The material is extremely lightweight yet durable. The length of the leash is 2.5 feet (it is not elastic) and great for keeping Preston by mommy’s side (as seen in Preston’s NYC trip).

Does Knot-a-long® leash magically transform Preston into a perfect walker? Not quite…but here is Preston’s best “on-leash” walk.

Canine Cutaneous Histiocytoma

Two weeks ago Mommy found a small blistery bump on Preston’s paw. It started out tiny and quickly grew into a pea-sized red lump within a week. It was sensitive to touch but did not seem to affect Preston’s walk eventhough it was very close to the pad. Mommy had it examined by the doctor. The cytology has confirmed that Preston has histiocytoma.
It is a benign skin tumor that usually occurs on young adult dogs. In most cases, the tumor will regress on its own in two to three months so Mommy is taking the doctor’s suggestion to let the tumor run its course. If it does not go away in three months or starts bothering Preston, surgical removal might be necessary. Hope it goes away by itself soon!

Puggle Preston @ the Big Apple

When Mommy went to school in New York City years ago, she often dreamed of walking her dog on NYC streets and Central Park. This weekend, Preston helped Mommy realize her dream.

Halloween Pet Parade

Preston went to Boston’s annual Halloween Pet Parade today. There were many doggies in the coolest costumes. Preston did not want to be under-dressed so he put on his hotdog suit for the parade.

What a happy event in Faneuil Hall today!

Mommy was wondering why Preston was especially friendly with this doggie and gave her lots of kisses. It turned out…

Mommy’s favorite is this chocolate lab dressed up as a horsie.

Bewitching Salem, MA

Halloween week is the best time to visit historical Salem, MA, famous for the witch trials of 1692 and the most exciting Halloween festival each year.
Preston does not plan to wear a costume this year but did dress up a little for the event.

Scary decorations did not seem to scare Preston a bit.

Happy Halloween, everyone!

Eating Etiquette

Preston is accustomed to eating his treats in small bites. He refuses to eat them if they are too big in size. In this video, Mommy was trying to give him a big piece of his favorite fruit-watermelon…

Preston is not supposed to eat his treats without getting the “take it!”command first but sometimes, the treat is so yummy that he forgets. When he does that, he always realizes his mistake immediately.

Fall Foliage

Fall foliage in New Hampshire is at its peak this week. Preston wouldn’t want to miss the dazzling fall colors at the Kancamagus highway.

Mommy and Aunt Chrissy ran a 10K race on Monday. Mommy ran as fast as she could, knowing Preston was waiting at the finish line.

Edible Rawhide Card

When Mommy and Daddy’s friends Auntie Katherine and Uncle Steve came back from their trip to Europe, they got Preston the coolest present – an edible rawhide greeting card! But the problem is…it is too cute to eat!

Hiking Welch & Dickey Mountains

Preston went hiking in White Mountain National Forest in New Hampshire. Mommy and Daddy picked Welch-Dickey Loop for this hike.
The hike starts out with an easy trail in the woods.

Then, it gets a bit more strenuous. Preston needed a little lift from Daddy sometimes.

The view at the summit is breathtaking.

Mommy and Daddy like this trail a lot. Welch-Dickey loop is not long (4.4 miles, 3.5 hour hike) but challenging enough to get a feeling of accomplisment. There are several open ledges providing spectacular panoramic views along the way. It is a great family hike. Preston has become such a good hiker. He led the way but always made sure Mommy follows closely.

Dog-friendly Boston

Boston is such a dog-friendly city. Preston can ride with Mommy and Daddy on the subway (the “T”). He was very well-behaved.

Many restaurants with outdoor seatings can accommodate 4-legged customers. Mommy and Daddy had brunch at Abe & Louie’s. Preston stayed right next to Mommy but on the other side of the rail.
